Yet again I have been purusing the brilliance of Etsy and have come across a gorgeous selection of all things bright and yellow and full of summer cheer. With the sun finally making an appearance I find there's nothing better than coming across something lovely that encapsulates that sunny spirit! (Yes I am feeling very bright and bubbly today - and when the sun shines I turn into one of those annoying idiots who thinks the world is wonderful and everything in it is great!)
Take a look and find your summer sparkle...

Pretty in pink
Check out the gorgeous items on Etsy. I must admit I am a lover of pink
and there are so many beautiful things to chose from...I'm hoping if I
view something enough then my hubby might take the hint and buy me
something!

I've been knitting away and have finished one of my many rabbits. I call him Robin. Admittedly, I misread some of the instructions and he has ended up with far shorter ears than he was meant to have, but it's still turned out ok. I just need to make sure that I read things through properly before embarking on all things knitterly in future!

Knitting Happy!
Well Friday is here and I think I've even spotted the sun - nope there it goes back behind the clouds - but oh well as long as the rain holds off. Everything seems slightly rosy when you know the weekend is only a few hours away! Especially when I'm listening to some up beat tunes - am loving the new single by Jack Savorretti: 'Knock, Knock'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2nRLeEQhYo
I *HEART* THIS:
I love these items, I've been looking on Etsy and there are some beautiful items on there. This is my selection of 'heart' based objects which are just stunning....some being practical and some just very pretty!
I've started a new project called Sunny Baby Blanket. I got the free pattern through the Ravelry site. It's created by 'knitting on circular needles' which is my first experience using these, but once you get the hang of them, they're pretty much the same to be honest. I bought my first set of circular needles yesterday afternoon - I've still got my rabbits to finish but I just couldn't wait to get cracking on this pattern so will be alternating between rabbits and baby blankets for the forseeable future.
I'm making the baby blanket in a nice warm yellow and so far, so good (although I am only on row 11!). I've still been seeking the advice of my mum because I can't get into my head whether I can use a 'Double Knit' wool in 4-ply or 10-ply and what the differences are between wools and thicknesses of the threads etc.
It's nice being able to start something new and to know it will come in useful in the future. I just love the whole process of knitting in general - being able to watch something come to life, from one (or two or three..) balls of wool, that then transforms into a beautiful item whether it be a toy, clothing, blanket....ANYTHING!
I'll be posting images of my progress, but that's yet another project I have got going on the sideline - how to take good photo's. At the moment they aren't very good so I haven't put anything on here. I can't quite seem to get angles/lighting right, so I will have to do some experimenting over the weekend and see what I can come up with.

Happy Thursday
I'm not sure whether it's the fact that I can sense the weekend ahead or the fact that I've treated myself to a gorgeous ring by Dariami on Etsy, but I am one happy girlie today. Driving through the countryside this morning singing along to the radio (check out Morton Harkets new tune 'Scared of Heights' http://youtu.be/eXKulweAZNA - I haven't listened to one of his tunes since the Ah-Ha days, but this really got my toes tapping), and with lots of projects lined up - I really am feeling full of beans.
Yesterday I ordered myself this beautiful ring by Dariami, it's a beautiful green stone in the shape of a heart. The stone has a floral pattern and is combined within a simple heart shape in a fresh mint color. It's an enamel imitation technique from polymer clay. I LOVE IT. The only thing I will have to be careful of is not to buy too many things from this shop - I've already got my eye on a brooch, a necklace and some earrings...oh dear, my purse is in fear of going into melt-down!

Rainy days
Drip, drip, drop...
Well, the UK seems to be at it's usual best at the moment and it has been raining non stop, so I have been stuck indoors trying to finish off my magically increasing number of rabbits. The front room is covered with woollen limbs of all shapes and sizes at the moment, not that I mind too much - I find knitting very therapeutic and calming, but I do think it might be testing Chris's patience slightly so I might need to find a nice big box or something to keep all my lovely things tidied away.
As well as my stash of rabbits, I'm also trying to find myself a nice pattern (everything I've made so far have been pressies for other people - I've got a really nice selection of wools that I've not started to use yet and it would be a shame not to be able to experience the loveliness of them for myself!)
Between knitting rabbits I've been catching up on the many blogs I've started following - there are some really amazing one's out there and so much talent and inspiration too.
I've discovered some beautiful images by 'honeycup' on Etsy and have also started following the blog - http://ammiki.com/blog
Check out some of 'honeycup's' pictures below - I love them:

Back to basics
Well, I have discovered the perils of trying to write my own pattern.........not quite as easy as I thought! After spending a wet Bank Holiday weekend snuggled in the frontroom trying to create my own little creature - one little rabbit with gigantic legs and a tiny head later, I have come to the conclusion that I need to sit down with my needles and have a bit more of a practise. But hey ho - nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say, and you only learn by doing things and making mistakes. I'll admit, I assumed that after creating one little gorgeous bunny I thought I would be able to create anything I wanted - NOT SO - so here's a lesson: practise makes perfect!
I also discovered, DO NOT try to write a pattern after having a glass of wine or two - when you come to read it the next day, you will find not a lot of it makes sense! (Maybe this is why my rabbit looks more like Frankenstein than anything else?)
I do think I might have to tackle some other projects soon as everything seems to be rabbit based at the mo, so I've got tons of projects on my 'to do' list (blankets, mittens, hats etc) - so there are more than enough things for me to pick and choose from. Now all I need to do is have a browse through all my gorgeous coloured wools and try to come to a decision on what colour(s) I would like to use. Hmm choices, choices. Either that or I can spend even more time at the shop buying more wool (I'm sure Chris won't mind??)
So after a day at the mill I will be looking forward to sitting down tonight with all my bits and bobs - I'll use this week to try and finish off the 3 bunnies I need to make for my friends and then I can get cracking on some new projects.

Hello
I love all things that enable me to be as creative as possible: I
love to read, write, draw, knit, paint, am slowly learning to crochet –
but it’s hard going, and I’ve recently tackled the sewing machine! I
decided to start a blog as I’ve decided that now is the time I try to
make the most of those things that I love to do – so I thought to myself
– why not try to set up an on-line shop showing off what you’ve made
and just see if things start to sell. What’s the worst that can happen? I
thought that by doing a blog I can chart the high’s, low’s, successes
and failures, and you never know – I might just learn something from it.
At the moment this is very much a work in progress, I’m still learning my crafts and working out what does/doesn’t work and there will be mistakes along the way (although not too many I hope) so please be patient – and this is a note as much to myself as well as any eyes that may be reading this post!
So I’m off to knit some more bunnies for friends (all expectant mothers – there seems to be a massive baby boom within my circle of friends at the moment) and I will post some pictures soon.
